Igor Pikovski recently spoke with Davide de Biasio from the International Society for Quantum Gravity about our group’s latest results showing that gravitons can now be detected in realistic experiments. In this podcast, Pikovski explains how advances in controlling and sensing quantum systems have opened the prospect of single-graviton detection through the absorption of individual quanta of gravitational-wave energy, combined with cross-correlation to LIGO observations.
The conversation also touches on other research from our group, including time-dilation–induced decoherence and tests of quantum theory on curved space-time. Altogether, the podcast highlights our work on how the interplay between gravity and quantum mechanics can now be explored directly in laboratory experiments.
